Quality Care

Frequent Checkups

Our eye surgeons perform frequent checkups after surgery. The checkups are scheduled for a day, a week, approximately four weeks, three months, and six months following LASIK surgery. LASEK and PRK checkups are more frequent. Additional treatments are included. Our patients can reach a doctor anytime if any acute problems arise.

After LASIK surgery, patients can expect minor discomfort in the eye, such as halos, glare, and light sensitivity. These symptoms usually disappear after a few days or at most a few weeks. Severe complications are rare. If patients experience any severe pain, they are urged to call our doctors. We are available anytime to help our patients.

Recovery

After laser surgery on both eyes, patients will not need to wear contact lenses anymore. If only one eye is treated at a time, patients should wear soft one-day contacts in the untreated eye.

Recovery time will vary. Patients are urged to pay attention to their progress and contact us if feeling uneasy.

Patient Behavior After Surgery

Patients should be cautious after surgery. They should avoid behavior that will damage a healing eye. They also should take the necessary steps to avoid infection and to speed up the healing process. Here is what patients should and should not do after surgery:

Within the first week after surgery

During the first two weeks after surgery

During your entire recovery period (three to six months)

Please contact us to learn about other precautions patients must take after surgery.
